1-2-4-All

The meeting's half over. Three people have spoken. Everyone else has checked out or is waiting to be asked.

1-2-4-All is a structured discussion technique for rapidly engaging every person in the room. You reflect alone for one minute, discuss in pairs for two, share in fours, then present to the whole group. The progressive scaling builds ideas organically whilst ensuring every voice contributes.

A four-stage progression labelled one, two, four, and all (marked 1, 2, 4, and the infinity symbol), each stage giving a duration and instruction (silent one minute, two minutes in pairs, four minutes, each four offers to the room), under the banner 'silent first phase makes fourteen voices possible.'
