Conflict Resolution

TTool · Conflict Resolution

By , Editor · · What’s Next

Two people disagree in the meeting. Neither says so directly. The real argument happens in DMs, or worse, in the work itself — passive misalignment that drags on for weeks.

Conflict resolution is a set of techniques — collaborative problem-solving, mediation, negotiation — for addressing disagreements constructively while preserving relationships. You distinguish between positions (what people say they want) and interests (the underlying needs driving those positions), then work the interests.

A three-step numbered sequence labelled 01 HEAR, 02 SURFACE, and 03 REFRAME, each with explanatory text, under the line "Position vs position is unwinnable. Interest vs interest usually isn't."
